Job Description
Reporting to a Manager in the COVID-19 response, the Quality Improvement Specialist will provide program performance management expertise and support in the area of quality improvement, process mapping, performance measurement and analysis.
- Identifies quality improvement processes, methods, systems and analysis, using a best practices approach and evidence informed decision making
- Conducts current state assessments, environmental scans, literature reviews and documents business processes and work flows for the purpose of business process redesign and program evaluations
- Plans and coordinates projects (e.g. requirements gathering, gap-fit assessment, implementation of appropriate technology, return on investment analyses, budget monitoring)
- Develops and implements quality assurance processes to monitor and support programs to achieve and maintain standards and to comply with legislative mandates
- Drafts and revises related program plans, policies and procedures
- Develops and implements communication strategies to inform stakeholders (e.g., performance measures, quality improvement initiatives, best practices and legislative changes)
- Creates and maintains resource information for stakeholders
- Provides expert advice on training, professional development and policy/procedure development
- Develops and facilitates in-service training, staff orientation and staff development programs
- Develops, implements and evaluates divisional programs and projects
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- A Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Quality Improvement, Health/Nursing Informatics, Health Sciences, Nursing, Health Administration) or an equivalent combination of a baccalaureate degree and extensive experience relevant to the primary duties of the position.
- Considerable experience leading program performance management including developing, analyzing and reporting performance measures and designing, implementing and monitoring quality improvement projects.
- Considerable experience documenting business processes and workflows for the purpose of improving business process design.
- Experience managing concurrent projects utilizing excellent organizational, planning, project management skills.
- Experience in the development, planning and implementation of training and education sessions.
You must also have:
- Knowledge of change management.
- Certification in performance management or quality improvement, e.g. Lean or Six Sigma methodologies, is an asset.
- Ability to work with quality improvement and performance management frameworks, continuous quality and process improvement practices.
- Ability to lead and motivate workgroups to excel in an environment that fosters innovation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent consultation, facilitation, team building and conflict management skills as they apply to multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office software applications (MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio & Word).
